“A Place to Write” may not be the place for everyone, but here are a few testimonials from Brenda’s colleagues, students, and friends that might help to shed some light about the center’s director.
Let others know what you think about Brenda. In your comment, please include your first name, age, and how you know her.

For this particular blog, it is best to select "Other" as your identity and then fill in your name, age, and relation to Brenda in the Name field.
When writing about what you think of me, keep in mind it is meant to help OTHERS understand what kind of person I am, not for you to share with ME your deepest, innermost feelings about me.
I would appreciate honest and truthful insights!
Great job in putting together a fantastic resource for Hawaii! Honolulu is in desparate need of a writing focused workshop and tutoring program. Good luck.
Whenever we pass by Castilleja now, we really miss you. I would like to thank you for the time that you had helped Jasmine with her writing. She always thinks that you are a great teacher and she learned a lot from you. If you go back to the Bay Area in the future, please let me know. Wish you luck and success in the future.
Brenda is a spirited and inspiring teacher/writer, who will help you find the story you need to write, and then to write it. She will show you what you have achieved in your writing and give you constructive and motivating suggestions on what skills you need to hone.
Brenda is a warm, supportive and compassionate person. I loved having her as a colleague and valued her contributions during our monthly diversity meetings.
From knowing Brenda for a short time....she is very easy going, fun and high spirited! I'm sure she will be very pleasant to work with in any curriculum. I highly recommend her....and it's all about having fun!
Excellent work on your webpage, and best wishes on your new ventures Brenda!
"Brenda is a really creative person. I would love to take a workshop from her!"
Brenda is enthusiastic, energetic, and adventuresome…not to mention, smart as a whip! I have no doubt that her workshops will be a wonderful experience!
Hawai’i is very fortunate to have a writer and teacher as talented and dedicated as Brenda Yun. Brenda and I worked together as teachers at an elite private school in Massachusetts, and I’m happy to join her in Honolulu to witness the opening of A Place to Write. Brenda possesses a talent few teachers master – the ability to infuse her students with the same passion for literature and writing that she’s had for years. More importantly, Brenda has the skill to effectively instruct students in the art of creative and analytical writing. Brenda is enthusiastic yet patient, and she plans each class meticulously. While enrolled in Brenda’s course, you’re guaranteed to have fun and you’ll be amazed by how much you learn.
Good luck to Brenda and her students as they embark on an exciting new odyssey.
I have known Brenda for many years now. She has a wealth of travels and experiences to draw upon and provide perspective for her (and your) creative writing adventures.
As a fellow English teacher, I admire Brenda's contagious enthusiasm and writerly skill. With our busy lives, it's more and more difficult to find "A Place to Write," and I think this new venture will create wonderful opportunities for Hawaii's creative community!
You have been so accommodating and so good for Julianne’s self esteem. I feel that she is much more confident and motivated academically since she started her sessions with you. You are a blessing!
Since you have been working on my proofs/edits and rewrites; my grade for my class has gone up from a weekly average of 66% to 88%.
Thanks very much!
