If you would like to leave your name and age, that would be great! That is easiest to do by selecting the "Other" identity and typing your name and age in the name field.
I would love to hear your ideas and will take everything into consideration!

Hi Bren,
I think this whole venue for giving people a chance to "publish" both free pieces and publication-ready pieces is such a great idea, especially since it comes from a space in your heart that exudes with writerly intentions. Truly, you are a writer at heart.
Some notions and passing thoughts:
Students reside in an egocentric world--and rightfully so. As such, they love seeing their "stuff" in print, for it gives them both verification and validity as real people whose voices resonate with a sense of "I matter in this world." On the down side, however, some of our young writers believe that what comes from their pen in the first draft is truly awesome stuff; thus, the possibility of having to re-write is far from remotely likely.
For teachers and mentors, therefore, an enormous task is to convince student writers that revisioning--seeing their first drafts in new, very different ways--is an integral and inextricable part of the whole writing process. I would love to see you come up with ideas or strategies that encourage young writers to accept this theoretical notion, that there can be no good writing without the painful process of re-writing.
without thoughtful and deliberate feedback, the blog venue may otherwise turn out to be nothing more than a place for kids to spew out beginnings--beginnings that remain at the beginning--without growth, without polish.
What do you think?
Carol
